Service Area: 8 counties

WIN Energy/REMC is a distribution cooperative whose electricity lines are generated by Hoosier Energy. This utility serves residential and commercial loads. Commercial loads amount to approximately 30% of total annual sales.

Natural Gas

An abundant supply of natural gas is provided for both firm and interruptible customers throughout the community.  Integrated rate options are offered allowing industrial customers to tailor gas services to meet their specific process or facilities needs.

Vectren provides natural-gas service throughout the community, including developed industrial sites. Water

The potable water is supplied to the City of Terre Haute and surrounding areas by Indiana American Water and a handful of other smaller water utilities.  The sanitary sewer system in greater Terre haute is provided by the City of Terre Haute Sanitary District.

Air Attainment Status

Generally speaking, the air quality in west central Indiana/east central Illinois is good. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) published notice in Federal Register on             January 5, 2006 that Vigo County has attained the 8-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS).  The rule is effective February 6, 2007. 

Communications

Vigo County has a state-of-the-art telecommunications system.  Fiber optic cable and ISDN service have been deployed throughout the county.  A full array of broadband data and e-commerce services are available in many areas for business customers, including web hosting and other Internet services.  DSL high-speed Internet access and other advanced voice features are available in many areas as well.


Verizon
Verizon Corp. provides telephone service to the Vigo County area. The local Marketing Department consists of a full staff of communications analysts, consultants and specialists to service large and small businesses. A variety of long-distance phone services also are available. Verizon has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to meet all customer communication needs.
