FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
AET Distribution Center Job Creation and
Clabber Girl Corporation Expansion
Terre Haute, IN.-Applied Extrusion Technologies, Inc. (AET) announced
today that the company has moved its distribution center to Terre
Haute from Indianapolis, Indiana. The move, which is nearly complete,
commenced February 1, 2005.
AET's Distribution Center will be located in a 197,800 square-foot
facility owned by Radley, L.P. The building is located on Brown Avenue
at Terre Haute in the Jadcore-Phase I Economic Development Area. ìIt's
a logical move to bring the AET Distribution Center back to Terre
Haute,î says Rick Gordon, Manufacturing Services Manager. ìFreight
savings to shuttle product to the Terre Haute Distribution Center
as compared to trucking it to Indy will be quite notable.î
The relocation of its distribution center creates twenty new jobs
for the Terre Haute area. ìThese twenty jobs bring nearly $
500,000 in base-income into the community,î says Gordon. ìWe've
contracted with Morris Trucking of Terre Haute to shuttle our product
from the manufacturing plant to the new warehouse, thus adding a few
more jobs to the mix. And AET's access to other local trucking firms
like ICON, RBW and Custom Global for outbound freight also played
into the relocation decision process.î
AET is North America's leading developer and only independent global
supplier dedicated solely to manufacturing of oriented polypropylene
(OPP) films. OPP films have a variety of uses, from labels for bottles
and cans, packaging for confectionery and snack foods, pet foods and
condiments, to holographic films for gift-wrap and promotional packages
and specialty-designed barrier films used to extend the shelf life
of snack-foods, cheeses, meats, and fresh produce. AET operates three
production facilities, Terre Haute; Covington, Virginia; and Varennes,
Quebec Canada. The Terre Haute plant, opened in 1968, is the largest
facility with 550 employees.
The Jadcore-Phase I Economic Development Area is also gaining a new
tenant in the form of Clabber Girl Corporation. Clabber Girl recently
agreed to lease 100,000 square-foot of space from Radlee
re Haute will be used for additional warehousing and distribution
space. ìRecent growth in Clabber Girls product lines directed
our need for more space, it's a perfect location,î says Gary
Morris, President at Clabber Girl Corporation. ìIt meets and
exceeds standards set by the American Institute of Baking (AIB). The
AIB is well recognized in the food trade industry and Clabber Girl
is AIB certified for raw and finished products. And from the expansion
four new jobs have been created.î
Kevin Burke, mayor of Terre Haute says, ìWe are excited about
AET's decision to relocate its Distribution Center in Terre Haute.
It gives us the opportunity to prove that this is the community to
locate a business to if you want to make a profit.î Burke continues
saying, ìClabber Girl Corporation is a positive reflection
on Terre Haute, we're fortunate to have Clabber Girl and AET as members
of the Terre Haute business community.î
In addition to Real Property Tax Abatement, the City of Terre Haute
has assisted with
infrastructure development in the Jadcore-Phase I Economic Development
Area
through construction of infrastructure that was funded through Tax
Increment Finance (TIF) bonds issued in 2004.
