Duke Energy Awards $20,000 Grant for Survey Work on Former Pfizer Manufacturing Campus in Terre Haute

The redevelopment commission purchased the land and buildings in September 2009. The 845-acre parcel is adjacent to the current Vigo County Industrial Park. The land survey will create a map, or plat, of subdivided lots suitable for new business development.

"One of our top priorities is helping our communities prepare for economic growth," said Rick Burger, west area manager for Duke Energy Indiana. "This new subdivision map will serve as the foundation from which future marketing, planning and business development can occur as the industrial park expands."

"We are fortunate that this parcel comes already equipped with a rail spur, as well as electric, water, natural gas and communications infrastructure," said Steve Witt, president of the Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation. "Completing the survey work will more quickly prepare this property for future development." The grant is made possible through Duke Energy’s Community Growth Partnership Grant Program and is aimed at generating new jobs and capital investment in Indiana. Over the past three years, Duke Energy has awarded 15 of these grants totaling more than $198,000 to Indiana economic development organizations. www.duke-energy.com
