Overview

Terre Haute/Vigo County, Indiana works to develop, retain and attract a high portion of educated and creative people, people who are productively engaged in the community. This effort brings with it strong and dynamic neighborhoods where individuals and families connect with the community and each other.  We embrace a level of ethnic and cultural diversity and provide opportunity for full participation in the life of the community. 

The Arts Cooridor--a planned multi-block area in downtown Terre Haute is located near the Vigo County Public Library and the accredited Swope Art Museum and is a growing spot for art and culture lovers.  Seventh Street, the primary cooridor through the Arts Cooridor, has had significant street scape up-grades and serves as a promenade and outdoor gathering place for the expanding arts. The Blues Festival, the Children’s Science and Technology Museum, the Clabber Girl Museum, the Halcyon Gallery and Gopalan Gallery are just a few choices in the Terre Haute Arts Cooridor. 

The Terre Haute area is a shopper’s delight. Vigo County is home to the largest shopping district within 15-counties. Dining options include everything from fine local restaurants to franchise favorites, to artsy hangouts and Blues lounges.
